Every curse in this game is unique. This guide will help you understand what each one does.
An introduction to curses
You get curses at specific points in the game: at the beginning of a run; after beating an area; and at the npc store.
You will not be able to choose which curse you start with.
Curses have a few types of basic projectiles, as well as homing and aimable projectiles.
Curses can also be equipped with various additional effects. Some can cause enemies to linger in a certain area and others can grant temporary invincibility from melee attacks, ranged or both. These curses can only be unlocked by gaining Faith, selecting upgrades from a skill tree accessible by giving Sermons for your Followers, and gaining Faith. Upgrades unlock three new Curses. They are added to your potential list of abilities at the points mentioned.
Every Curse explained.
Touch Of The Revenant
This spell, which is similar to Touch Of Turua affects a straightline infront of the Lamb. Touch Of The revenant summons ghosts into the area to track and attack enemies.
These ghosts are identical with those spawned from Necromantic guns, but their large numbers make them a danger to all foes. The ghosts can be wiped out by clearing away smaller enemies or they can concentrate on a single target for more concentrated damage.
Ghosts are limited in range so they won't catch enemies far from their starting point. They also have difficulty tracking fast-moving foes. Therefore, try to summon them reasonably close to your intended target.
Divine Blizzard
Divine Blizzard works well when you are faced by large numbers enemies. It damages all foes within a radius around the Lamb. It even pushes them away. This gives you time to reposition them or thin their numbers.
Cult Of Lamb can quickly drain you of your health. Having a way out is vital. Knowing when Divine Blizzard is needed and using it correctly can help you avoid having to restart a crusade.
Hounds Of Fate
Hounds Of Fate is an excellent spell to cast when you enter a new room. It unleashes five magic weapons that strike at enemies, ensuring your first strike. It's also useful against bosses. This allows you to deal damage while keeping your distance.
Breakables can slow down the missiles. Be sure to clear out any debris from the center of the room before you swear off the curse. Hounds Of Fate will only work if you have clear lines of fire.
Path Of The Righteous
Path Of The Righteous can be used to help you get rid of enemies who leave poisonous pools around the map. Path Of The Righteous allows you to throw an ichor blob that does decent damage when it hits and poisons enemies who enter. Path Of The Righteous will also leave a trail of ichor that covers its path, increasing the impact of the poison effect.
Poison harm is often enough for weak opponents to be defeated, leaving you free to focus on bigger threats. The One who Waits protects Lamb and prevents him from being harmed by black ichor. The primary feature of this curse is the trail ichor, but Path Of The Righteous works best as a targeted damage spell. Hit your biggest opponent with the main block, and the ichor will capture any others as you move around.
Maelstorm
Touch Of Turua, a powerful all-purpose spell, can be cast four times instead of once. Maelstrom's four-shot burst of tentacles sends out four blasts simultaneously at right angles, giving it one of the best coverages of any curse in the game. It doesn’t hit as hard or as focused as its cousin, but it’s the best spell to hit every enemy on your field.
Maelstrom can either be cast orthoqonally, or diagonally. To do this, you must hold the curse button while changing the direction. This gives the spell greater versatility and allows you respond to moving enemies mid-cast, without wasting Fervor.
Divine Guardian
Divine Guardian is the only defensive curse available in the game. It acts in the same way that other burst spells. It pushes back and damages enemies close to the Lamb. It has two key effects, however, that cannot be replicated by any other means. This makes it an excellent tool for any loadout.
First, Divine Guardian reflect any projectiles caught within its blast, causing them damage enemies rather than to the Lamb. Many of the game’s bosses are heavy users of rapid-fire projectiles. So a well-timed divine Guardian can change the course of events in an instant.
Second, and perhaps more important, the Divine Guardian makes it invulnerable for the Lamb for two seconds. That's enough time to reach safety or launch an attack with no fear of retaliation. It's rare to be able, with Gauntlet weapons and melee weapons, to unleash a melee a*sault on a boss without taking any damage. Divine Guardian allows you to do that, greatly increasing your success rate.
Divine Blight
Divine Blight is an extremely powerful attack. It poisons all enemies in its range and knocks them out.
Good, but not the best.
Divine Force
Divine Force locks enemies in place for a limited time, allowing for you to take some additional damage.
Divine Blast
Divine Blast doesn’t have any unusual effects. It only knocks down enemies and causes them to suffer.
Trail Blazed
Trail Blazed projects projectiles both forwards and backwards, causing significant damage.
Strike Of The Crown
Shoots a projectile with a chance to hit enemies, making them not attack.
Cleansing Fire
Three projectiles shot at once, causing serious burn damage.
Flaming Shot
The Bolt of fire can be used to strike multiple enemies at once. You can also hold and release this mark to make it explosive.
Oath Of The Crown
A devastating melee strike that can also allow you to possess impacted enemies.
Death's Disregard
A melee attack is a great choice for bosses, as it can simultaneously deflect projectiles and strike simultaneously.
Death's Attendant
A melee attack that generates ghosts like touch or revenant, but its ghosts do less damage
Deaths Sweep
A melee attack that is very basic, but can be charged to deal additional damage.
Call Of The Crown
A homing attack in which enemies are directly hit by objects.
Path Of The Righteous
A projectile that creates a trail from Black Ichor.
Touch Of Ithaqua
A swarm of ice pillars which freeze enemies on hit
Pa*sage Of The Marnier
Spawns far reaching tentacles surrounding you
Touch Of Turua
Basically Maelstorm. But unlike Maelstorm can you only use it once.
