Terminology Guide

Backrow = spell/trap zone
 
Bounce = Removing something from the field but not sending it to graveyard/banish
 
Burn = dealing effect damage
 
Continuous = spell must remain on the field to resolve
 
Cycle = changing your cards in hand
 
Destruction = to destroy a card
 
Equip = spells that must be used on-field
 
Face = front card with all the stuff
 
Face-down = Back of usually unknown card because face cannot be seen
 
Field = the active play zone (monster/spell/trap areas).
 
Floodgate = To stop an opponent from playing
 
GY = short for graveyard
 
Handtrap = The most useful card, activated from hand
 
Negate = deny effect
 
Quick-play = spell activatable during opponent turn if set
 
Recycle = reusable/sending back a card into active play
 
Resource = anything that helps to fuel plays
 
Search / Finder = Add a card(s) to your deck
 
Set = play a face-down card
 
Situational = bad card except when used
 
Working together is possible through synergy
 
Targeting = a mechanic that can be used with some cards
 
Yoink = to steal an opponent’s beast
