Temporary fixes found for dealing with FH5 issues.

These are temporary, not all of them will work, sadly patches need to come out for this to be fixed.

Tested Fixes (Most work)

Software Conflict

Antivirus software, firewalls, and various third-party apps can trigger Forza Horizon 5 to crash, and in some cases, even prevent the game from opening entirely. Here’s a list of confirmed ones.

– Avast

– Avira

– Bitdefender Firewall

– Comodo Antivirus

– Emisoft Anti-Malware

– Sophos

– Trend Micro Maximum Security

– A-Volute Sound studio

– Discord

– EVGA Precision

– Logitech G Hub

– MacType

– MSI Afterburner/Riva Tuner Statistics Server

– Nahimic Audio

– OBS

– Sonic Audio

– Wallpaper Engine

– Warsaw Banking App

– Xsplit

Conflicting Overlays

– NVIDIA in-game overlay

– Windows Gamebar

– Steam Overlay

– Discord Overlay

Infinite loading

If you’re infinitely loading, do these steps.

1. Press ALT + Enter

2. Repeat until game loads in.

Yes, that simple, how this is a fix to a dumb issue is beyond me…

Unclear if these work

Other Tweaks

– Disable Game Mode in Windows 10 / Windows 11

Playground Games also recommends disabling Game Mode in Windows 10 and Windows 11 when playing Forza Horizon 5. It’s far from a guaranteed fix but eliminates another component that could cause the title to crash on some systems. (I don’t know if this really fixes it)

– Admin Account

Go to your Forza.exe and force it to use administrator.

– Lower settings

Obvious, if in game lower the game settings to medium. (This is unconfirmed)

– Multiple monitors

If you have more than 1 monitor, make sure to only use one if crashing occurs more and more. This was tested, it isn’t confirmed, this is a 50/50

– VR

If you have anything related to VR connected, remove all components, as this supposedly can cause crashing.

– Windowed mode

Go into the files and change the game to windowed mode.

  • Open Steam if not already running.
  • Open the Game Library tab.
  • Right-click on your game and select Properties.
  • Open the General tab.
  • Click on the Set Launch Options button.
  • It will open a new window with advanced user warning.
  • Enter the following parameters to open the game in windowed mode.
  • –windowed
  • Click OK to save the changes and close the Properties window.
  • Try launching the game and check if the game launches in windowed mode.
  • If not, open the Launch Options window again and type the following parameters:
  • –windowed -w 1024
  • Click OK to save the changes.
  • The above parameter will force the game to launch in windowed mode with a set resolution.
