This guide lists all achievements in NAIR and explains how to do them.
- In offline (2 Player), achievements unlock when player 1 achieves them
- Lots of achievements can be done in training mode, or in 2 player mode against a spare keyboard/controller
- From memory, some achievements don’t unlock until the end of a set or until you leave training mode, so don’t get too frustrated if you think you’ve gotten one but it doesn’t pop immediately
See Me Offline
On the menu, hit Play! then Online. Follow the prompts and when you get a game, lose the set.
See Me Online
On the menu, hit Play! then 2 Player. Have player 1 lose a set.
The Janky Hitbox
Play a game with the hitbox viewer enabled
On the menu, hit Options then toggle Show Hitboxes to On. Play a game and the achievement will unlock. Leaving this option on can make some of the other achievements easier to get.
Dodge an attack
While you’re in the air, press dodge and have an opponent’s attack pa*s through you while you’re intangible (i.e. while your character is greyed out).
Holding Down the Neutral
Dash dance 10 times consecutively
To dashdance, dash in one direction then press the opposite direction before leaving your initial dash animation (i.e. before the initial bounce finishes and you start gliding). It’s useful in neutral because it keeps you in a state where you can move in either direction with little delay but you’re also not committing to any option. To get this achievement, wiggle your left stick back and forth or mash A and D a bunch of times.
Tap and release the jump button very quickly. Shorthopping is useful especially in combination with fastfalling (pressing down after reaching the peak of your jump) when you don’t want to float in the air for an extended period of time or to hit an opponent who’s grounded.
Hit a combo!
Hit an opponent multiple times without them leaving hitstun. When viewing hitboxes, a player’s hurtbox turns yellow while they’re in hitstun. This achievement will probably unlock from just playing the game. If you want an easy 2-hit combo to do in training mode though, an early rising fullhop nair will pop the opponent up high enough to hit two falling nairs that combo into each other if you start mashing attack around the peak of your jump and don’t fastfall. In other words, press the jump button then immediately press attack. Drift alongside the opponent and start mashing attack once you start falling, but don’t press the down direction.
Skill and Fundies
Hit a 5 piece combo
I a*sume this achievement is as above, but you have to hit them 5 times without them leaving hitstun. Unfortunately, I’m a dumb dumb who has only managed to do 4-hit combos in training mode. If anyone who’s done this achievement is reading this, please let me know how this combo is done.
Press attack while you’re in the air.
Whiff 5 consecutive nairs
Do five attacks in a row that don’t hit the opponent. Basically, spam jump and attack while you’re not near them.
Jump, then quickly dodge downwards or diagonally downwards so that the end of the dodge is cancelled by your landing. If you dodge diagonally downwards, some of your momentum will be carried after you land. In this game, you can buffer a perfect wavedash by holding dodge and then pressing jump. Wavedashing is useful in a number of situations, such as to move backwards without facing away, to stop your momentum while running, or to move yourself less than your initial dash length. However in this game, it does have a decent amount of endlag so it shouldn’t be your only grounded movement option.
Win a timeout
Have the clock reach zero while you’re ahead (i.e. your colour takes up more of the shared health bar). Be sure not to kill your opponent.
GG Shake My Hand
Win a timeout by 1 hit
As above, but your net damage must be only 1 hit away from the centre of the bar.
End a set in a draw
The final match of the Bo3 must end in a draw (i.e. the clock reaches zero while both players’ health is exactly equal). To do this, either have two draws in a row, or have both players win one match each and draw the third match.
Get your opponent down to 1 health. Then get bodied
Attack your opponent until they’re 1 hit away from death, then lose the match. I’m not sure if losing by timeout works for this achievement, since I got it by losing all my health.
From low health, win at the last second
Take damage until you’re one hit away from death, then win the match in the last 3 seconds. After reaching last hit, you can damage the opponent until health is almost even, but don’t take the lead until the last 3 seconds. Winning by timeout is okay, so don’t worry about killing your opponent within 3 seconds.
