This guide is intended to help players win at Knucklebones, which is required for some achievements. It can also be used as moneymaking.

This guide will help you win at Knucklebones. The instructions are not specific strategies. This makes it easy to get lost in the game. The Very Basics

The basic mechanic of the game is that either the opponent or you roll your dice and then choose a column in which to drop yours.
 
 
If the number placed matches a number on your side, then the total number adds up to double. If you stack 3 of a same number, then the numbers add up to triple. Double 6's are 24 instead 12. Triple 6's are 54 instead. This is the most important factor in winning Knucklebones often.

If the number placed matches a number on the opponents' side, that number will be removed. If an opponent has multiple of the exact same number in the same columns, they lose it all and the column is empty. This is to stop the opponent from obtaining double or more scores that could be a threat to your win.
 
 
Both of the above rules work in reverse so that your opponent is totally capable of destroying your double-triple point columns.

Now, let's get to the fun part.
 
 
 

Strategy

Knucklebones strategy can now be reduced to just 2 goals. It aims to remove enemies high points values while letting them keep its low point values. This will also prevent the enemy from removing any of your high point combos. These two must be done simultaneously. This strategy aims to do both of these simultaneously with very little effort.
 
 
This strategy allows you to base your move completely on the opponent's move. If they roll low in one column, place an extra number there. This will make them either settle with a low point combo, or waste a column’s ability to combine for additional points. If they are full, they won't be able to stop your combo points so try to put high roll combos in there.

If your opponent has rolled high early on, then you can ignore this column unless they are able to remove the high rolls immediately. If they don't use the combo potential of the rolls, then the column can safely be ignored. However, if your opponent starts stacking a double and triple with the high roll then you need to focus on removing it.

After that, you should focus on creating and protecting a high points combo while preventing the opponents' combo. Focus your high roll on columns where your opponent has already placed noncombo dashes. Also, remember the old rule of "Never interrupt an enemy when he's making a mistake." If the enemy is filling columns with low numbers, allow them to do so and don't take away the low rolls. If they take out the low rolls, they will have more chance to get in higher rolls.
 
 
After the first few steps are made, the priority list is as follows
 
1. Get your high-point combo
 
2. Take out the high-point combo of your opponent
 
3. Avoiding opponents removing low point dice
 
4. Combining a low-point combo
 
5. Combination for removing opponent's low-point combo
 
 
At the end of this, you should be winning any game without losing to bad rng. You can do it all right and still lose. It is just how life works sometimes. However doing things right will help your chances of winning more often.
