A lot of you seems having trouble with these two achievements. But I know a better method, and I…. WILL…. SHOW YOU…
Introduction
Both achievements can be done easily and with minimal effort using the The Shrieker Boss.
The Shrieker is an giant black bird-like Eldritch/Beast Event Boss, similar to a crow, found in the Weald. It is fought alongside its Nest, both of which take up two slots. On the Shrieker’s last turn during Round 4, it will use Shrieking Flight, dealing 50 stress damage to all heroes before flying away, ending the battle.
The reason I choose him its very simple; it can be encounter very easy in early or late game and no dungeon must be completed due the battle against him starts just after you enter in his event.
The trick to all of this is that you don’t even need to kill this boss. Instead you only have to worry about keeping your team alive until the end of round four in which the shrieker escapes using his Shrieking Flight attack on his last turn, giving you the mission success.
The Shrieker
The Shrieker can appear following 3 different events:
- During the Shrieker’s Prize event, where you can hunt the Shrieker in order to get one of its unique trinkets. This event can happen after week 15. It will expire if you don’t clear it on the same week when it appears, but it can happen multiple times during the campaign, even if you already acquired all Shrieker trinkets (in this case the quest reward panel will be empty).
- During A Thief in the Night event, when the Shrieker steals 8 random trinkets from the trinket inventory. This event can happen after week 42, appears only once and will be available on the map until you clear it.
- After you lose 8 trinkets (with dead heroes or in town activities), you can fight the Shrieker to get your lost treasures back. This event will stay on the map until you clear it.
The best of this events its the 3th one. You can trigger it by just sacrificing 4 characters equipped with 2 trinkets on their slots. 8 trinkets should be lost for it.
I advice you doing this in the Endless Mode in the Farmstead if you have it. The Farmstead is a new location that is introduced in the Color of Madness DLC. The first two missions act as a tutorial to the main draw of the place (and they act as any other mission) – An Endless Mode, where you are pitted against wave after wave of monsters until you are defeated or you flee; during this Endless Mode your heroes don’t really die when they are defeated, instead they just get lost for few weeks and become available later, so it is a good idea doing the sacrifices there.
Lone Survivor
Lone Survivor
Kill any boss with only one hero remaining
TIPS
Against this Boss, is absolutely NOT needed bring 4 heroes like lambs to the slaughter just to sacrifice 3 of them. You just need bring one and only one hero, but its adviced this hero should be level 6, with max ranged weapon, armor and fighting skills for better chances to survive.
As you will not be focus on attacking, the best thing you should have on mind is bringing trinkets that rise your DODGE, PROTECTION, HP and decreases the stress; also its a good idea bring skills that can heal you, decrease the amount of stress and buff your DODGE or PROTECTION.
Remember, all you need to do is hold on and keep you alive until the raven escapes…
HEROES
Here is a few examples of which heroes are good for the task, the trinkets I choose and the fighting skills I would use:
A mighty sword arm anchored by holy purpose. A zealous warrior.
This man understands that adversity and existence are one and the same.
The raw strength of youth may be spent, but his eye holds the secrets of a hundred campaigns.
SUPPLIES
On this mission you will not be using food, torches, keys or shovels. The Antivenom is not needed, as there is not Blight attacks. The Shrieker attacks inflict stress, bleed, debuffs, horror and diseases. So buy Holy Water, Laudanum, Bandages, Medicinal Herbs.
THE BATTLE
I chose one Crusader with his Trinket set from the Crimson Court DLC. It gives him +20 HP, +15%PROT, -15% Stress, +20% Healing and +20% Stress Skills but -2 SPD.
The skills (all max level) were:
- Bulwark of Faith: +30% PROT (1 Battle) Mark Self (1 Battle) (This one should be used on your first turn, after using one Holy Water for buff)
- Battle Heal: 5-6 Heal (+20% for trinket)
- Inspiring Cry: Stress -8 (+20% for trinket)
Remember using Holy Water as soon as possible each time you can. It works well increasing Hero’s resistances to bleed, blight, diseases and debuff by 33% for 3 turns, 45% if you have Distrits and Tainted Well build.
Prodigious size alone does not dissuade the sharpened blade.
Dysfunction
Dysfunction
Kill any boss with a party of four afflicted heroes
TIPS
Once you lose 8 trinkets, the Shrieker Event will remain until you decide complete it. The trick for this achievement is not bringing a group of sane heroes; on the contrary you must bring four heroes already afflicted from a previous run, so start leaving some untreated heroes on the rooster for this occasion.
As you are using a full party some of you could start consider the chance of taking the risk of killing the bird this time, after all the frontline of this war is not in the dungeon, but rather inside the mind. But don’t do that, try to focus on the task and remember that your party is full of afflicted heroes and as such they will act irractionaly and have less ACC not to mention that they are already quite stressed for not having received the proper treatment in the Hamlet.
Finally, consider the level and the upgrades of all the gear and skills. Every creature has a weakness – the wise hero trains for what he will face, a sharper sword, a stronger shield… anything to prolong a soldier’s life.
NONE OF THEM MUST DIE FOR THE ACHIEVEMENT.
HEROES
Again, equip your team with trinkets that rise your DODGE, PROTECTION, HP and decreases the stress. Also don’t forget a good healer, and this hero should have trinkets for better healing skills.
Due to the high stress on your team, don’t hesitate on go with one jester with stress heal skills and trinkets.
This is one example formation, with their respective skills, gear and trinkets:
A sister of battle, pious and unrelenting!
He will be laughing still at the end.
What better laboratory than the blood-soaked battlefield?
The raw strength of youth may be spent, but his eye holds the secrets of a hundred campaigns.
SUPPLIES
On this mission you will not be using food, torches, keys or shovels. The Antivenom is not needed, as there is not Blight attacks. The Shrieker attacks inflict stress, bleed, debuffs, horror and diseases. So buy Holy Water, Laudanum, Bandages, Medicinal Herbs.
THE BATTLE
Dazed, reeling, about to break.
If you have one Mat-at-Arms, his Bolster skill can help you rising the party DODGE and decreasing the party Stress. Can only be used once, but you can refresh it by making use of Shard Dust if available.
Be wary, triumphant pride precipitates a dizzying fall.
