SGSSAA to integrate with Dynasty Warriors 7 – You don't need to resort to FXAA
Preamble
After owning the game for a while, I was able to get back to it.
Dynasty Warriors 7 PC was a bit more frustrating than Dynasty Warriors 8 because there was no reasonable alternative to FXAA or injecting SMAA/FXAA using external tools.
FXAA/SMAA by post-processing does not fix the shimmering issue due to aliasing. It also messes with UI components.
I spent a day trying different values in the compatibility bits section.
After much searching, I finally found the setting that seemed to work.
Nvidia Inspector
1 – Compatibility
Antialiasing Compatibility: 0x00401045
3 – Antialiasing
Antialiasing – Mode: Apply settings that are not set by the application can be overridden
Antialiasing – Setting: 2x [2x Multisampling]
Antialiasing – Transparency Multisampling: Enabled
Antialiasing – Transparency Supersampling: 2x Supersampling from a SparseGrid
You could go 4x or even 8x times. However, for my purposes, 2x is sufficient.
Just make sure that Setting and TransparencySupersampling are on the same level.
((4x SGSSAA mulit, 8x Multi for SGSSAA 8x)
Additional Settings
4 – Texture Filtering
Anisotropic Filtering Mode: User Defined / Off
Anisotropic Filtering Setting: 16x
Texture Filtering – Negative LOD Bias: Clamp
Texture Filtering Quality: High Quality
FXAA can still be turned on in section 1, but with some blurring.
Despite the above-mentioned UI issues, I would not recommend it.
