Strategy for the last fight in the game.

Spoiler alert

The guide is simply a walkthrough for how to beat the last boss and scrolling further down is a complete spoiler so if you need pointers, scroll down.

This setup a*sumes you made no deal with the goddess of greed when entering the black geyser, and you want to free Zoira instead.

It also a*sumes you bring 1 good tank and have another partymember able to tank a little.

Keep the following in mind:

Your primary tank doesnt really need to be able to dps anything worthwhile for this fight.

Stack up mitigations (parry/dodge, slash, stab and..pulse &.. blow.. err. moving on)

Your secondary tank should be as mitigating as possible, but can be a medium armor type.

Spacer to keep the spoilerish stuff below.

Fight mechanics

Party enters Rothgors lair.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, the fight begins.

Fight starts with all partymembers being knocked down.

As they stand up, Rothgor summons a copy of every character in the party which has the same mitigations/resistances as far as I could see.

Fighting with 2 tanks:

Run your most robust tank toward Rothgor, engage him and the large demon he summons from the portal, then run this tank1 with Rothgor in tow to the first stone with chainring.

At the same time tank1 runs off with Rothgor, keep your party where they are, and use tank2 to keep the clones engaged while the rest of the party distance as needed to avoid melee or not, as per your preference.

Position healer between tank1 and tank2 in order to keep things secure.

Kill off the clones with weak mitigations (focus on one at a time) and just keep the tanky clones engaged throughout the encounter. There will be occasional adds such as wights from the portal

After some time, Rothgor will aoe near tank1 and hit the chainring, destroying the stone and freeing a chain.

Tank1 runs with Rothgor in tow to next chainringstone and fight him there until Roghtor hits that stone as well, and the chain is released. Healer should probably be repositioned when tank1 moves.

repeat this for all 4 stones and its cutscene time.

(No need to kill anything strictly speaking, but it is much easier to survive if you reduce the opposing team’s means to hurt you).

For my fight I had:

Helgenhar – tank1

My fighter/spellweaver/thief – tank2/heal

Bjalla – ranged dps/buff/heal

Jade – ranged dps/summon spam

Siracca – melee cleric

If you only have 1 real tank type for this fight:

You can probably use tank1 solo on Rothgor this time too.

In this case you can reasonably well kill off all the fluffy clones and ignore the tank1 clone (or have tank1 tag the clone with taunt and have both tank1clone + rothgor + big demon for entertainment)

End. Good luck on the last achievement.
